Community
Careers offers a range of adult education courses. We provide basic
skills, skills for life, numeracy and literacy and Esol training. In addition we provide
ICT training and free access to the internet.
We are part of the UK Online centres in North West London.All our courses
are accredited and lead to a recognised qualification.
Our courses are held in our training room, in a modern
yet informal atmosphere with disabled access.

Basic Skills
Basic Skills is defined as the ability to read, write and
speak English (or Welsh), and to use mathematics at a level necessary
to function at work or in society in general.
From September 2001 national qualifications in adult literacy and numeracy
based on national standards became available.
These certificates share common components
and provide progression into the key skills of Communication and Application
of Number. Tests are available through accredited awarding bodies and
are based on specifications developed by the Qualifications Curriculum
Authority (QCA).
Community Careers Centre is an OCR centre. We have target skills materials for basic skills initial assessment. We also do ESOL initial assessment.

ESOL
We have ongoing enrollments and open days for ESOL Skills for Life courses.
We can also train clients with basic keyboard skills.
Clients can also meet the tutor to discuss their training needs during the open days organised at the centre.
ECDL
European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), is the global standard in end-user computer skills, offering Candidates an internationally recognised certification that is supported by governments, computer societies, international organisations and commercial corporations globally. ECDL is a test of practical skills and competencies and consists of seven separate modules covering computer theory and practice. To achieve an ECDL certification, the Candidate must successfully pass a test in all seven modules. .
The ECDL consists of 7 modules, as follows: :
1. Basic Concepts of IT
2. Using a computer & managing files
3. Word Processing
4. Spreadsheets
5. Databases
6. Presentation
7. Information & Communication
When candidates register to start ECDL, they will receive a Skills Card
on which progress through the 7 modules is recorded. When all 7 modules
are complete, successful candidates will get the European Computer Drivers Licence.
In response to local demand from individuals and organisations, Community
Careers has a specific ECDL programme for lifetime learners.
